Children and Families

Hello everyone – hope you enjoy reading our news this month.

Adventure Tots
Alongside our usual activities, we are exploring the story of Noah, through a new children’s book (Noah’s Car Park Ark) Over a period of six weeks we’ll be making umbrellas, arks, animal puppets and a rainbow. The children are learning a new song about the ark and it’s lovely to see both adults and children singing and responding to the actions. We are also using this for the ‘Little Seeds’, which works rather well. As our ‘Toddler Month of Prayer’ comes round in June, you’ll be able to explore our ‘table of interest’ in the foyer, as we celebrate toddler groups nationwide. I’m sure you are aware of the importance of these groups for both children and adults, so I have incorporated the prayer timetable of events overleaf. As June comes to an end, we will celebrate with a fabulous party morning with games, cake, ice cream and plenty of balloons and bubbles.

Sunday Refresh 4-5.30pm
Our next three dates are booked, and we have found this to be a great time to deepen conversations with new families, as well as coming alongside those of our church families who attend. If you’d like to offer any help, or just come along, we’d love to hear from you.

Sunday Club
Recently, we were blessed to have a Sunday visit from Olly Goldenberg who took our ‘All Age Service’. Olly runs an organisation called ‘Children Can’, as well as managing the annual children’s ‘Hand in Hand’ conference. He also led a short workshop for those interested in children’s faith. As our teachers meet soon to discuss the Summer and September, please pray for us as we plan and consider children’s Sunday activities in the future.

Outreach
On 12 June, I’m looking forward to meeting the Beavers, as they prepare for their Faith Badge and on 27 June, one of our local primary schools is coming to visit the church and learn a little about the Christian faith.

As I end this news, I must tell you that after much reflection and prayer, I will be stepping down from my role here at SBC in July. My prayer and hope is that you will be able to continue this position in the future so we can strengthen our families and children at church and in the community. Thank you to all those who have supported our events and encouraged me in prayer. Hilary West
