Children and Families Work - October update

Hi everyone

I’ve recently returned from my previous church in Northwest London, where my previous minister was retiring after 39 years. He dedicated my children and here it was they attended creche, tots and eventually youth group. Our church family supported and encouraged us during the highs and lows of our journey both practically and spiritually. Without making those connections, building friendships, and serving, our memories would have been very different. So, I do encourage you to get to know your SBC family, serve when possible and build connections; you will be greatly blessed for doing so.

Adventure Tots has been incredibly busy both mornings and we are having to watch our numbers carefully so we can keep everyone safe. Our new electronic payment system is much appreciated. Most groups have this option nowadays and it seems to be a helpful method for our younger families. We continue to make links with SBC whenever possible and found there to be an amazing response to our ‘harvest table’. Our produce was added to the Sunday contributions, and we will continue to make these connections as Remembrance Day and Christmas approach. Our crafts, songs and stories are also very popular, and we prayerfully continue to lift each morning to God and ask for his vision to guide us forward.

Our Sunday Club is settling back to a good routine, and we continue to be thankful for the team that works so hard in preparing their activities each week. Several of us attended a ‘Care for the Family’ event recently, on mental health in young people. I would encourage you to have a look at the organization if you haven’t already as there are so many helpful resources for family life.

Two dates to be aware of and all are welcome to join us:

  • November 5th: Sausages, pop and quiz for all ages 12:15pm straight after the morning service December 17th: All age nativity We would love to have a simple lunch after this morning service,
please let me know if you’d like to organize or help with this exciting event.

I’m looking forward to leading an assembly this week, in a local school, so will let you know how that goes next time. This verse has blessed me from the visit to my old church:

‘being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 1:6

God bless,
Hilary
