GAT Update
Our Global Action Team continue to meet on a regular basis, reflecting together on how SBC can best support and learn from the worldwide church. We’ve planned a number of events in the coming months and would love you to join us for any or all of them.
Saturday 20 May: Plant Sale at SBC, 10:30am to 12:30pm
A wide range of household plants and flowers, with all funds raised going to support GAT projects –
for more details, please speak with Jo Wheeler or Linda Wright.
Sunday 4 June: International Needs BBQ, 6:00pm
Please join us for food, conversation and an opportunity to hear from Danny Morris and the International Needs team about how God is at work in Uganda through the disability programme that we’re partnering in.
Sunday 25 June: Open Doors Service, 10:30am
Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 70 countries, Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
On 25 June, we’ll be welcoming Mark Liburd, Open Doors Church Relationship Manager for London, to SBC, to learn more about the challenges facing persecuted followers of Jesus and how we can best support them.
Sunday 25 June: Sunday Night Theology, ‘Just Money’
What we do with money, how wealth is shared, including through our tax system, and how money is used by investors, banks and companies, determines the kind of world we live in.
The JustMoney Movement aims to be the go-to organisation for Christians and churches who want to connect faith, money and justice. Join us for an evening of teaching and conversation with Just Money trustee, Sue Richardson.
Sue recently retired from Christian Aid, where she worked for 25 years as a a regional staff member in the East Midlands and for the last decade as a theological adviser with a particular focus on working with those in training for both lay and ordained ministerial roles. She has spent both her working life and her free time in the voluntary sector, serving as a local councillor, setting up local environmental action groups and serving as a Citizen Advice Bureau adviser and trustee.
