Selsdon Baptist Church
are marking this year as the
2010 YEAR OF PRAYER
YEAR OF PRAYER INITIATIVES:
- A different focus on prayer each month.
- A new “Prayer Diary” for every month (available on a Sunday or on the website.)
- An “Encounter” prayer event on the third Sunday of each month.
- An SBC prayer book (available at Addington Road.)
- Teaching on prayer in Sunday services in both congregations.
- Opportunities for growth in prayer in homegroups.
- Suggested books to read on prayer.
- Our text for the year: “Be still and know that I am God.”
- A church weekend at home, led by Rev Roy Searle, Fri Nov 26 – Sun Nov 28th.
EACH MONTH
- In January we all sought to pray at 12.00 am each day on the same theme.
- In February we were given a Prayer bookmark, with well loved prayers on it.
- In March our children are building a “Prayer Wall” at Addington Road.
- In April there will be a Prayer Labyrinth. (April 12-
16 th) - In May we will be having half-
hour Saturday morning prayers. - In June there will be prayer triplets organised.
- In July we will be doing some prayer walks.
- In August we will be having some later Sunday evening prayers in place of some evening services.
- In September we concentrate on praying for our community
- In October the Young People will attempt some round the clock praying
- In November we have our church weekend at home on the theme of “Be still and know that I am God”, from Friday evening to Sunday lunch time.
- In December there will be a celebration of answered prayer on Dec 5th at 6.30pm.

PRAYING FOR OUR COMMUNITY
our ‘Year of Prayer’ special focus for September
During September we will be asking people, organisations and business in Selsdon
if they have any specific needs for prayer.
We have set up an email address to receive these. It is:
This is not instead of the prayer chain, but for people outside the church to use to ask for prayer. People can also contact us by phone or post with their requests.
These requests will then be allocated to different people and to homegroups for them to pray. We will not be giving all the requests to everyone, but we will make sure that every request is covered by someone who will pray.
If you would like to receive some of these requests to pray about, please let Mike Elcome know.
If you have requests for prayer for businesses, or organisations or people in the community, please pass them on in one of the ways mentioned above.

The Global Action Team will lead the September -
From the members’s giving, each year SBC donates to carefully selected mission charities. We are currently involved in the work of 12 groups, ranging from large organisations like BMS to smaller ones like FEBA radio.
Why not come along and hear what the key issues are for just 5 of the organisations and join with the Global Action Team in praying for their work.
