Soul Survivor

Summer holidays are a chance to do something different!

Selsdon Baptist is no exception and during August we had three holiday specials - Summer Fun Days, Holiday @ Home, and Soul Survivor.

Messing about in Boats - Holiday at Home

Holiday at Home

The theme of 2013’s Holiday at Home was African Adventure.

We welcomed 38 elderly folk, who would not normally get away, to our premises to experience an African Adventure.

This page shows you  ‘scenes from the safari’!

The week finished with a special H@H service on the Sunday morning, followed by lunch and then listening to the wonderful voices of Steph and Alan Crooks. It seems from comments received that the helpers enjoyed the week as much as the guests, and with an outing yet to come, this year, once again, will provide many very happy memories for all who attended.

According to guests, this year was ‘the best ever’ thanks to the dedicated commitment of the helpers and the hours and hours of preparation that go to make up H@H, not forgetting

those who work behind the scenes

providing transport, cooking meals,

washing up etc. Without such

dedication the event would not

have gained the reputation it has.

Craft work is not just for the ladies!

As usual, the window displays drew great admiration, this year featuring different African countries, as well as food and animals.

Another memorable afternoon was the visit of the multi-talented Mosi Conde who entertained guests and helpers alike.

Each guest had their own favourite part, but one of the highlights of the week for many was the wonderful Fashion Show featuring some spectacular African dresses.
