Ordination of Diane Watts

On the afternoon of Sunday 3 October we had the great joy of sharing in Diane's ordination as a Baptist minister followed by her induction at Selsdon Baptist Church. Our Senior Minister Rev Mike Elcome welcomed Diane's family and friends, plus a good number from SBC and other local churches including Diane's sending church Croham Road Baptist, and led the first part of the service.

Rev Chris Andre-Watson, representing the London Baptist Association, took Diane through the ordination declarations and promises, and Diane shared the story of her faith journey so far.

Rev Dr Peter Stevenson presented Diane with a bible on behalf of Spurgeon's college where Diane undertook her ministerial studies.

Rev Chris Andre-Watson then took us through the induction part of the service, with the SBC leadership team - deacons and ministers - coming to join Diane on the platform to promise their prayerful support and encouragement of her future Ministry.

After an enthusiastic burst of applause to welcome our new Associate Minister, Rev David Mayne welcomed Diane and her husband Gareth into membership

of SBC.

Rev Dr Stephen Wright concluded the service with a challenging message bringing together the various bible passages Diane had chosen to have read out earlier.

There was an opportunity over a delicious tea (thank you Kate and team!) for people from the different churches to mix and chat together.

A very special day and a memorable occasion in the life of Selsdon Baptist Church as well as for Diane!
