SINGERS FOR SBC CAROL SERVICE:  Practices for the Christmas Carol Service on 21 December at 6 30 pm will begin on Thursday 27 November, and on each following Thursday, 4, 11, 18 December from 8 309 30 pm in the church.

BIBLE READING NOTES:  I am taking orders for Bible reading notes for 2009. Please let me have your order as soon as possible to be able to start Jan 2009. If you already take a regular order, please let me know if you want to continue with it, or try something else. I have samples to look at. You can contact me at church or via the church office. The church gets a percentage of cost if you order through me.

Christmas sale in aid of Ghana trip on 7 December at Addington Road after the morning service. If anyone would like to make some cakes for us to sell it would be greatly appreciated.  Please see Roland or Becky Hasell for further information.

HOLIDAY @ HOME REVIEW AND PLANNING MEETING: on Wednesday, 3 December at 2 pm in the Coffee Lounge.

Call for Singers and Collectors:  Floating Shelter Carol Singing: Whitgift Centre   18 December, 10 00 am 6 00 pm.  Our church will be sharing a one-hour slot with East Croydon URC  from 2 00–3 00 pm to sing carols and collect money for the Shelter. Please contact Pat and John Hasell if interested. We need about 8 people from SBC to take part as there are restrictions on the number of people allowed to sing and collect.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT EVENT:  A Selsdon Baptist Church @ Greenvale Event:  on 6 December from 2 00–4 30 pm Greenvale Primary School.  Come and enjoy designing and making cards, decorations, table centres and more!  Join us when you can, leave when you must. Refreshments provided.  A free event for all the family.  All ages welcome. 

COMPASSION ART is a new charity which raises money to share among projects and charities working to relieve poverty in communities worldwide.  They are releasing a worship album on 24 November, featuring Graham Kendrick, Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes, Darlene Zschech etc which will be stocked by WH Smith.  You can see a 3-minute video trailer at:http://ecards.fiercedistribution.com/compassionart/whsmith  All proceeds will be used to help combat poverty.

SONGS FROM THE SHOWS: Friday 12 December, 7 30 pm at Selsdon Baptist Church. Music from the West End shows with Stephanie and Alan Crooks. Free admission (donations kindly received in aid of The Ghana Youth Mission trip 2009). 

'THE PEACE CHILD': Saturday 29 November at 3 00 pm and 7 00 pm at St Mary Magdalene, Canning Road. A musical production by 7- to 8-year-olds.  Come and see this enchanting Christmas parable as you travel to the far away land of Mambica where two opposing tribes seem unwilling to end their hostility. Will the birth of a new-born child bring peace? Tickets £5 adult, £3 Children, call 020 8407 4011.

Ideally we are looking for people with experience but this is not a necessity.  The O' Sullivans

A TEARFUND LEAFLET on their work with AIDS is available in the foyer at Addington Road. 

Another evening for Mums and Carers of young children: Tuesday 25 November 8 00 – 9 30 pm at Addington Road.  A special evening for those caring for young children; a chance to relax and have fun before the Christmas rush!  Make a card or Christmas decoration and enjoy coffee/desserts AND a chocolate fountain!  Plenty of time to relax and chat! MOTHERS’ UNION CAROL SERVICE at St Mary’s Addington on 2 December.  Please sign sheet in foyer at Addington Road if you would like to attend. 

Shelter ADMINISTRATION:  Pat and John Hasell have agreed to do the admin work for the Shelter this year.  If you have any queries please contact them. .

LADIES’ PRAYER BREAKFAST Saturday 29 November, 8 30 - 10 30 am. This will replace the Prayer Evening originally scheduled for Friday night, 28 November.

HOMEGROUP DETAILS If you would like to join a homegroup, leaflets giving up-to-date details of the homegroups currently meeting are available on the Welcome table.  Please take one.

Youth Football We are playing in the the South London Churches Football League this autumn, in the school years 7 9 age range. Games are on a  Saturday morning, and we have a joint team together with Emmanuel and Croham Road Baptist. If you are interested in joining the team, please let Alan Bedford or Roland have your name.

Church Library another new addition Stepping through my nightmares (Sheila Barlow). There are lots of books in many different categories in the (free) Church Library in the Coffee Lounge; books to inspire, challenge, encourage, educate and relax you.  Why not take a few minutes to browse the shelves you might find something that would ‘hit the spot’ for you today.

LARGE PRINT INSIGHT  -  If you  find it difficult to read and would like to have a large print version, please add your name to the list in the foyer at Addington Road, or on the table at Greenvale, and a large print copy will be set aside for you each month.

Re-cycling - Glass, cans and tins can now be recycled in the kitchen, in the cupboard next to the dishwasher, but MUST be rinsed clean first. Please refrain from putting plastic cups or any non-paper-based items into the paper recycling boxes. There have been numerous plastic cups found in the bags when recycled. 

Church groups/committees meeting offsite  -  If you are holding a meeting, eg Sunday Club, Evangelism Committee, etc, in a home please let the office know so that it can be noted in the diary to avoid a clash of meetings.  (This does not apply to home groups.)

Activity Bags are available for toddlers to use and enjoy in the services, and are at the entrances of both SBC Addington Road and Greenvale.  Please return after use. 

Communion Services - To accommodate people with allergies we shall be providing some gluten-free bread for our Communion Services.  If this affects you please let Mike Elcome  or David Mayne know. 

ROAD SAFETY  -  Please take care on the church drive – remember that it is used by both pedestrians and cars bringing disabled people to church. Keep a lookout for yourselves and your children.
