Who’s Who - Ministry Team

Diane Watts - Minister (Team Leader)

Diane Watts

Diane joined us as an Associate Minister in September 2010 after spending time with us as a minister-in-training whilst studying at Spurgeon's College.

In June 2012 the church called Diane to become our new Ministry Team Leader, replacing our previous our previous Senior Minister, Mike Elcome, who retired the previous October.

Diane’s passion is to see effective community built where people are able to meet with God and know the potential they have within the kingdom of God.

Youth Minister - Adrian Clark

Adrian came to faith in Jesus as a teenager through the warm acceptance he found from local church youth leaders and has been consistently involved in working with young people ever since.

After training and working for a while as a secondary school Geography teacher, Adrian and his wife felt called to work with street children and young people alongside a church in Uganda for a year, and also toured with a Ugandan children's choir through Europe and America.

To further equip him for Christian youth work, Adrian then did a degree course in youth work and theology at the Centre for Youth Ministry in Oxford. He has had several jobs in youth ministry while studying for his degree and since, working both within church settings and reaching out into schools.

Most recently, Adrian has been working for a Christian charity supporting and encouraging young people in schools in the Oxford area, bringing a Christian presence into the educational environment.

He is passionate about working with young people and helping them to find a hope and a future in Christ.

Adrian is married to Rachel who is a music teacher.

Matt Forsyth - Spurgeons Student /Associate Minister from Sept 2016

Matt Forsyth first gave his life to Christ at the age of 14. After taking a year out to work as learning support assistant in a local college back in the East Midlands, Matt decided to attend Spurgeon's college to train for ministry in 2013.

Matt spent his first year in London working in a church plant in Shoreditch, then came to Selsdon Baptist church in September 2014 as a minister in training.

Matt has recently accepted the invitation from the church to become the associate minister starting in September 2016 after he graduates from college.

Matt's passion is to see both young and old come to know the Love of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Matt is keen to explore how we "do church" in the 21st century so that passion can become a reality.

Matt also is engaged to Louise and loves all things sport and music especially football and the drums. Feel free to contact matt on:

Rob Chivers - Youth Work Placement

Rob first committed himself publicly to God when he was baptised at 14. He saw something different in choosing to walk with Jesus, it having a sense of purpose that he really needed. His real passion and understanding for living and serving with God came when he was 19 and started a 3 year course studying Discipleship and Music at Nexus Institute of Creative Arts, a faith based music institute in Coventry.

He has been serving in Selsdon Baptist Church in youth work and occasionally  kids work for many years, which he loves. It has taken him on many adventures such as missions to Ghana and summer activity holidays. As a church member he is also part of the worship bands and helps out with the youth band.

He is now studying Youth Work, Community and Practical Theology at CYM in Oxford. As part of the course he is working on placement here at Selsdon Baptist Church. He’s hoping to get really stuck in to the work and really help and disciple the young people at SBC, enabling them to go further than they thought was possible with God at their side.
