On Saturday 6th November guest speaker Major Gillian Jackson from The Salvation Army began her first of three talks. Here are some comments from the ladies about the morning. The next one is on Saturday 29th January and I would highly recommend it!
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
T
This was our first breakfast together where Gillian Jackson (of the Salvation Army) shared with us and explored themes based on the Trinity.
At each breakfast she focuses on a different aspect: 1) God -
She has shared this series with many people throughout the U.K. and we are very fortunate to be able to have her with us. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time together and focus on the Trinity.
"We had a good time on Saturday morning sharing breakfast together and listening to Gillian speak. She used film clips, music and pictures as part of her talk about God being the choreographer directing our steps. She challenged us to 'feel the dance' which is so much more than just 'learning the steps'. I would recommend anyone who missed this first in a series of three talks to come to the next one in January."
'I really enjoyed the women's breakfast with Gillian. Must confess the title had put me off a bit but now I can see how well it fitted in with the talk and found it very interesting. I will certainly try to attend all of them and would urge others to sign up as well.
We heard about dancing -
There is quite a lot about dancing with joy and praise in the Bible. One of the things our speaker pointed out was that, not only do we need to learn the steps (do the things Christians are expected to do) but also to live in time with God, close to His heart and doing the things He wants us to do.
She showed a clip from the film 'Dirty Dancing' where the young man is trying to
teach the girl to dance. She tries to learn the steps but is a bit wooden. He then
gets hold of her hand and places it over his heart, so that she can feel the beat.
She then learns to throw herself into the dancing -
I really enjoyed Gillian’s talk. Wow! She is so good; I just loved her accent plus Richard Gere and Patrick Swayze! It was just such a wonderful way for us to look at our Creator as a choreographer of the world and of our steps within it.
Looking forward to the next one. Please send on my sincere thanks to all those involved with the arrangements, for the lovely breakfast and to Gillian for her wonderful presentation, a very spirit filled lady.
