Part of our vision for Selsdon Baptist is that our ministry should
reach out globally.
In the Old Testament, God sent people like Jonah to
minister to those outside of Israel, such as Nineveh. In the New
Testament, Jesus made a point of ministering to all nations, talking
with the Samaritan woman, curing the Roman Centurion's servant and so
on. We are told to 'go unto the whole world'. At Selsdon Baptist, we
believe it is a vital part of our purpose as a church to reach out
across the globe.
The Global Action Team (GAT) coordinates our support for outreach
around the world.
We support Christian Aid Week each year, through door to door
collections, Christian Aid Lunches, Quiz Nights etc.
We are linked to missionaries serving in various parts of the world
through Baptist Missionary Society (BMS), Youth With A Mission (YWAM),
South Asian Concern, Interserve and International Needs Network. Use the links on the
left to find out more about each area.
We support the
Christian Hospital Herbertpur in various ways - for instance our
Sunday Club children's groups are collecting for wheelchairs for the
hospital's disabled children unit.
From time to time individual or groups of members go abroad to serve
for either a few weeks or longer periods. Click the Members link to find out more about this.
