Football Activities at Selsdon Baptist
At Selsdon Baptist we see football both as a way of serving our community and a way
to reach out to those who might not come to other churh activities.
We have had a senior team for over 20 years. We are currently running two boys teams
covering the age range U12 - U17 together with Emmanuel Church. More details of the
U15 - U17 team here
The football club has both an A and B team (photos below), and a history that dates
back to 1990. They play weekly on Saturdays in the Bromley and Croydon Christian
Football League - The A team in Division 1 (2009) and the B team in Division 2 (2009).
The A team also reached the semi final of the National Christian Cup in 2009. There's
lots more details on the football club's own website http://www.selsdonbaptist.org.uk/footba ll
so look there for more details

2008 - 9 Season Reports
For the 2008-9 season we joined the U14 (school years 7 - 9) league. We had a joint
team with Emmanuel Church, South Croydon, and Croham Road Baptist.
We ended 2nd in the league and we also reached the Final of the knockout cup, with
a 6-0 win over Slade Evangelical in the semis. In the final against Crystal Palace
Community Church the game looked like it was going to extra time until a last five
minute goal by Palace meant a 2-1 defeat for us.
We'll be looking for more players for next season 2009-2010, so please get in touch.

2009 - 10 Season Report
The snow and poor weather restricted play in January. However, we have more recently played Elim Church - against whom we had a convincing win.
We welcomed a new defender - Tom, from Purley Baptist Church - who has strengthened our defence! We also played Crystal Palace, who beat us, despite it being a close game.
Over half-term we played a friendly match against Christchurch Beckenham. One of our team attends Christchurch and he was keen we played his friends. They were a younger team but we played well, winning 13-1!
On March 6th we have a cup game arrangement and timings are always rather last minute, so difficult to publish, but that is life with teenagers! It is good to coach and build relationships with the boys and the lads are working well as a team.
On some Saturdays we meet up with the 14-16 year olds at Purley Way and they too are benefiting from football in a Christian league. Watch this space for end of season news!
