Christian Aid and Selsdon Baptist
Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland. It works wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race.
Because Christian Aid believes in strengthening people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, they support local organisations, which are best placed to understand local needs. They also give help on the ground through 16 overseas offices.
Christian Aid strives for a new world transformed by an end to poverty and campaigns to change the rules that keep people poor.
Selsdon Baptist Church supports Christian Aid Week in May each year, through door to door collections, Christian Aid Lunches, Quiz Nights etc.

Quiz Night and Cake Auction 2012 !
Saturday May 12th
Come as individuals or as teams (max 6 in a team). Bring your neighbours, friends, family…
Fabulous prizes generously donated by local shops.
Delicious cakes being auctioned during the evening – bring lots of money to ensure you get yours!!
Tickets £4 each. Get yours early to avoid the rush!
Every year we have a quiz night (see picture above) to raise funds for Christian
Aid Week -
Last year a great time was had by all at the annual Christian Aid Quiz Night and Cake Auction. 85 people in 14 teams competed in a transformed sanctuary for fabulous fairtrade prizes (kindly donated by Waitrose and Sainsburys) and, more importantly, the cherished title of SBC quiz team of 2010 .
Rounds ranged from literature to curry tasting, geography to TV ads, with the highlight of the evening being the auction of nine delicious cakes generously baked and donated by the SBC congregation.
Last year was closer than ever with the winning team Stars and Stripes triumphing
by just one point. Three teams tied for second place and in a tense tiebreaker (teams
having to name as many American states as they could in 30 seconds), Les Quizzerables
just edged into second place with A-
Most importantly we raised a new record of £836 !!!! (including gift aid) on the night for Christian Aid's work around the globe.
