Standing Announcements

These announcements are not time specific - they are ongoing information about things that are available, or asking you to do, or not do, certain things!

STAMPS: Please remember to save the stamps to help raise funds for Baptist Home Mission which supports struggling churches.  Thank you for your magnificent effort this year.  I have already passed on three carrier bags stuffed full which is a lot of stamps. Stamps can be left in the red box on the Mission Table .  Thank you  Kay Holman

PRE SCHOOL OUTDOORS EQUIPMENT NOT TO BE PLAYED WITH ON A SUNDAY MORNING: Please could parents ask children not to play in the outside area beyond the large hall/Lasers room as the play equipment is getting damaged, left out in the rain and then rusting. We appreciate your co-operation and would ask anyone who sees children outside to call them in in. Thank you!

COUNSELLING SERVICE: open to all and run by Family Christian Concern. Please see notice board in the Foyer for further details.

SAINSBURYS ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS: Elaine Funnell and Paul Burns will be pleased to receive these for pre school and our local scout group. Also Jo Wheeler for Brownies and Guides. Please leave in their pigeon holes.

EXPERIENCED CARE STAFF, domestic and kitchen staff required for Burrell Mead Residential Home in West Wickham.

Why not visit the CHURCH BOOKSTALL after the service for good quality second-hand books and greetings cards for sale. Proceeds go toward Church funds.

HOMEGROUP DETAILS:  If you would like to join a homegroup, leaflets giving up-to-date details of the homegroups currently meeting are available on the Welcome table.  Please take one.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  The church website often mentions events at the church and people involved in them. If for privacy reasons you don't want your name mentioned or a photo to appear, you should email the webmaster, Alan Bedford ,  with your name (and a photo so that you can easily be identified).  You may still be inadvertently included in a crowd scene, but can be removed on request.  In addition, if you do not want you or your family's photograph to appear in INSight, our monthly magazine, please let the editor know at  

Re-cycling - Glass, cans and tins can now be recycled in the kitchen, in the cupboard next to the dishwasher, but MUST be rinsed clean first. Please refrain from putting plastic cups or any non-paper-based items into the paper recycling boxes. There have been numerous plastic cups found in the bags when recycled.

Church groups/committees meeting offsite  -  If you are holding a meeting, eg Sunday Club, Evangelism Committee, etc, in a home please let the office know so that it can be noted in the diary to avoid a clash of meetings.  (This does not apply to home groups.)

Activity Bags are available for toddlers to use and enjoy in the services, and are at the entrances.  Please return after use.

Communion Services - To help accommodate people with allergies we are willing to provide some gluten-free bread for our communion services, if you let us know in advance of your requirements. Please contact Theresa Nichols to arrange this.

Coffee after Church (Addington Road): When going for coffee after the morning service it would be helpful if everyone could use the large square space in the foyer, or the Coffee Lounge, to chat, so that the  area between the door out of the sanctuary and the exit is kept free.  Thank you.

ROAD SAFETY  -  Please take care on the church drive – remember that it is used by both pedestrians and cars bringing disabled people to church. Keep a lookout for yourselves and your children.

CHRISTMAS DAY!: Pat and John Hasell have kindly agreed to cook this year and we have lots of guests accepting our invitation. Please sign up if you are able to help lay tables, cover notice boards, bring crockery down from the loft and peel veg, all on Christmas Eve from 2pm. I am also looking for volunteers to help with transport at 10 am, 11.30am and at 3.30pm on Christmas day-please let me know, Caroline.

Finally we are looking for 2 volunteers to bring a fresh fruit salad to the Church on Christmas morning.

NASH COLLEGE REQUIRE A FOUNDATION GOVERNOR: Nash college ( where Jake Sharpe  now boards, is an independent specialist college, a Christian charity for learners with learning disabilities.The college is situated in Hayes and our local governing body plays a vital role in supporting the college. SYMPHONY OF SOULFUL VOICES: an evening of music and laughter to fundraise for SE London ME support group. Saturday December 5th 7.00pm Adults £10 and children £4, tickets available on the door. MESSY CHURCH DECEMBER 10th : Please could you make contact with Hilary West if you can help wash up  4-5.30pm  or supply  homemade fairy cakes for our Christmas meal.

SHELTER AT SBC: will run from February for 6/7 weeks. We shall need cooks, people to set up, to shop, make packed lunches,sleep over, do breakfasts, clearing up, cleaning and laundry. Please speak to Pat or John Hasell if you are able to volunteer. Thank you.

DECEMBER/JANUARY INSIGHT:  The deadline for articles etc for our double-issue magazine was Wednesday, 18 November.  The magazine will be available on Sunday, 29 November.    Regretfully, late submissions cannot be included. THE REAL ADVENT CALENDAR 2015: ‘If Christ is being written out of Christmas, let us put Him back by sharing the Christmas story.’  The 2015 colourful Calendar is better than ever!  It comes with a 32 page Christmas story activity booklet to be used every day in Advent.  Behind each of the 25 windows there is a different shaped Fairtrade foil-covered chocolate and a line of the Christmas story.  With every calendar sold a donation is given to fund the Funzi Baby Clinic in Africa.  If you would like to order, please add your name to the list in the foyer together with the number of calendars required by 1 November.  The calendars cost £3.99 each.  Please give the appropriate amount to Meryl or Linda.  Many thanks.

CROYDON ACTION GROUP: at a  recent AGM the Treasurer resigned after many years of service. If we are unable to fill this position the Croydon Action Group will have to close after 193 years. It was one of the first groups to be formed to support the work of the Bible Society. If you feel that you could fill this position or you know someone who could – and you do not need to be an accountant -  just someone with book keeping skills please let me know. CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH: we are keen to hear from anyone who would like to be at the lunch this year. The event needs co-ordination so please let Diane and Caroline know if you are able to help on Christmas Day this year.
