Standing Announcements

These announcements are not time specific - they are ongoing information about things that are available, or asking you to do, or not do, certain things!

STAMPS: Please remember to save the stamps to help raise funds for Baptist Home Mission which supports struggling churches.  Thank you for your magnificent effort this year.  I have already passed on three carrier bags stuffed full which is a lot of stamps. Stamps can be left in the red box on the Mission Table .  Thank you  Kay Holman


PRE SCHOOL OUTDOORS EQUIPMENT NOT TO BE PLAYED WITH ON A SUNDAY MORNING: Please could parents ask children not to play in the outside area beyond the large hall/Lasers room as the play equipment is getting damaged, left out in the rain and then rusting. We appreciate your co-operation and would ask anyone who sees children outside to call them in in. Thank you!


COUNSELLING SERVICE: open to all and run by Family Christian Concern. Please see notice board in the Foyer for further details.


SAINSBURYS ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS: Elaine Funnell and Paul Burns will be pleased to receive these for pre school and our local scout group. Also Jo Wheeler for Brownies and Guides. Please leave in their pigeon holes.


EXPERIENCED CARE STAFF, domestic and kitchen staff required for Burrell Mead Residential Home in West Wickham.


Why not visit the CHURCH BOOKSTALL after the service for good quality second-hand books and greetings cards for sale. Proceeds go toward Church funds.


HOMEGROUP DETAILS:  If you would like to join a homegroup, leaflets giving up-to-date details of the homegroups currently meeting are available on the Welcome table.  Please take one.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  The church website often mentions events at the church and people involved in them. If for privacy reasons you don't want your name mentioned or a photo to appear, you should email the webmaster, Alan Bedford ,  with your name (and a photo so that you can easily be identified).  You may still be inadvertently included in a crowd scene, but can be removed on request.  In addition, if you do not want you or your family's photograph to appear in INSight, our monthly magazine, please let the editor know at  


Re-cycling - Glass, cans and tins can now be recycled in the kitchen, in the cupboard next to the dishwasher, but MUST be rinsed clean first. Please refrain from putting plastic cups or any non-paper-based items into the paper recycling boxes. There have been numerous plastic cups found in the bags when recycled.


Church groups/committees meeting offsite  -  If you are holding a meeting, eg Sunday Club, Evangelism Committee, etc, in a home please let the office know so that it can be noted in the diary to avoid a clash of meetings.  (This does not apply to home groups.)


Activity Bags are available for toddlers to use and enjoy in the services, and are at the entrances.  Please return after use.


Communion Services - To help accommodate people with allergies we are willing to provide some gluten-free bread for our communion services, if you let us know in advance of your requirements. Please contact Theresa Nichols to arrange this.


Coffee after Church (Addington Road): When going for coffee after the morning service it would be helpful if everyone could use the large square space in the foyer, or the Coffee Lounge, to chat, so that the  area between the door out of the sanctuary and the exit is kept free.  Thank you.


ROAD SAFETY  -  Please take care on the church drive – remember that it is used by both pedestrians and cars bringing disabled people to church. Keep a lookout for yourselves and your children.

JOHN KNIGHTLY THANKSGIVING SERVICE: We thank those praying for us and are very grateful for the messages of sympathy we have received.  John's Thanksgiving Service ( funeral ) will be on Tuesday 1st September at 1.00pm at SBC.  For those who wish to attend, John asked that people not wear dark colours, but bright colours instead.

FAMILY RAMBLE: CTSA combined with Warlingham Churches Together Saturday 5th September. 10am start. This circular walk is 7 miles long but you can join  for any part, the length to suit you. Detailed flier on the noticeboard.


INTERNATIONAL NEEDS LONDON BRIDGES WALK: Saturday 19th September 10am, Join a sponsored walk of approximately 7 miles through London, past famous landmarks and across 7 iconic bridges. £15 entrance fee, which includes a T-shirt, drink, energy bar and route map! GUIDE TRIP TO SWITZERLAND: A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts this year. I'm glad to say that we've reached our target of £2500. Please pray for the group of 4 adults and 20 girls as we set off bright and early on Saturday 8th August from Heathrow - please pray specifically during the week for good health and safety for everyone. Thank you.

CRECHE: If you enjoy the company of young children, would you like to help in Creche occasionally on a Sunday morning from September?  We are very short of helpers and, if there are more friends on the rota, it means your help may only be needed once in six weeks!  Do your children make use of the Creche?  If so, maybe you would be willing to help occasionally?  Please speak to Meryl, who would be extremely pleased to hear from you!  Thank you!

TODDLER GROUP: We have an amazing toddler group meeting Wednesday & Thursday mornings and  have contact with approximately 16 young families for each session.  From September we will be short of helpers to keep this really important activity running.  If you could do either morning on a regular basis ( this could be monthly or fortnightly) please could you make contact,as soon as possible with Hilary West or Marilyn Newland.


Prayer Box in the Foyer. In addition to choosing to pray with a member of the Prayer Team in the Vestibule after the Sunday Morning Service there is now the option to place any prayer requests you may have in the Prayer Box in the Foyer. Such requests can be put in the box at any time during the week. You are invited to join available members of the Prayer Team to pray for those needing pastoral care and for any other prayer requests in the Vestibule 5 minutes after the end of each Sunday  Morning Service.  Brian Reeves


IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH WHILE FUNDRAISING FOR UGANDA: For a limited period only, Anne Handley, who is a qualified Massage Practitioner (Dip.MTI), is offering to donate 50% of the cost of each treatment to the Uganda Trip Fund. A full body massage (1 hour) costs £40, a Back, Neck & Shoulder massage (1/2 hour) costs £20.  This offer is only available between the following inclusive dates; 28th March - 20th April, 23rd May - 31st May, 18th July - 31st August 2015.  Treatments held at 12 Queenhill Road. MARRIAGE OF ROBERT CHIVERS TO JENNIFER HAMMOND: everyone is very welcome to the ceremony on Saturday 5th September at 12.30pm. The service will be followed by the cutting of the wedding cake and refreshments in the large hall and again, everyone is welcome to greet the bride and groom! If you would like to make cakes for this occasion please let Rob or Tracey know.
