Standing Announcements

These announcements are not time specific - they are ongoing information about things that are available, or asking you to do, or not do, certain things!

STAMPS: Please remember to save the stamps to help raise funds for Baptist Home Mission which supports struggling churches.  Thank you for your magnificent effort this year.  I have already passed on three carrier bags stuffed full which is a lot of stamps. Stamps can be left in the red box on the Mission Table .  Thank you  Kay Holman

PRE SCHOOL OUTDOORS EQUIPMENT NOT TO BE PLAYED WITH ON A SUNDAY MORNING: Please could parents ask children not to play in the outside area beyond the large hall/Lasers room as the play equipment is getting damaged, left out in the rain and then rusting. We appreciate your co-operation and would ask anyone who sees children outside to call them in in. Thank you!

COUNSELLING SERVICE: open to all and run by Family Christian Concern. Please see notice board in the Foyer for further details.

SAINSBURYS ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS: Elaine Funnell and Paul Burns will be pleased to receive these for pre school and our local scout group. Also Jo Wheeler for Brownies and Guides. Please leave in their pigeon holes.

EXPERIENCED CARE STAFF, domestic and kitchen staff required for Burrell Mead Residential Home in West Wickham.

Why not visit the CHURCH BOOKSTALL after the service for good quality second-hand books and greetings cards for sale. Proceeds go toward Church funds.

HOMEGROUP DETAILS:  If you would like to join a homegroup, leaflets giving up-to-date details of the homegroups currently meeting are available on the Welcome table.  Please take one.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  The church website often mentions events at the church and people involved in them. If for privacy reasons you don't want your name mentioned or a photo to appear, you should email the webmaster, Alan Bedford ,  with your name (and a photo so that you can easily be identified).  You may still be inadvertently included in a crowd scene, but can be removed on request.  In addition, if you do not want you or your family's photograph to appear in INSight, our monthly magazine, please let the editor know at  

Re-cycling - Glass, cans and tins can now be recycled in the kitchen, in the cupboard next to the dishwasher, but MUST be rinsed clean first. Please refrain from putting plastic cups or any non-paper-based items into the paper recycling boxes. There have been numerous plastic cups found in the bags when recycled.

Church groups/committees meeting offsite  -  If you are holding a meeting, eg Sunday Club, Evangelism Committee, etc, in a home please let the office know so that it can be noted in the diary to avoid a clash of meetings.  (This does not apply to home groups.)

Activity Bags are available for toddlers to use and enjoy in the services, and are at the entrances.  Please return after use.

Communion Services - To help accommodate people with allergies we are willing to provide some gluten-free bread for our communion services, if you let us know in advance of your requirements. Please contact Theresa Nichols to arrange this.

Coffee after Church (Addington Road): When going for coffee after the morning service it would be helpful if everyone could use the large square space in the foyer, or the Coffee Lounge, to chat, so that the  area between the door out of the sanctuary and the exit is kept free.  Thank you.

ROAD SAFETY  -  Please take care on the church drive – remember that it is used by both pedestrians and cars bringing disabled people to church. Keep a lookout for yourselves and your children.

THE INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELLING FOR CHRISTIANS: is a 25 hour part time course run by Spurgeon's College. It could be useful to you if you are involved in helping others in your church, or if you use counselling skills in your work, or you just want to learn how to listen effectively. The course takes place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:45 pm: March: 9th, 16th, April: 20th, 27th, May: 4th, 11th, June: 18th, 25th. Cost: £200. The course is open to all. WOMEN'S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: Friday 4th March: This Year's Theme is Praying for Cuba. There will be services at Sanderstead Methodist Church, Limpsfield Road at 10.30am and Croydon Minster at 1.30pm

International Needs is holding its final concert (due to theatre rebuilding) at Fairfield Halls at 7.30pm on Sat 13th Feb 2015 to help raise funds for maternal care projects. The Croydon Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Darrell Davison, will present an evening of Valentine's Classics including Romeo & Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Bolero, Bartered Bride Overture and Grieg's piano concerto. The event is sponsored by Pi Consulting.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES: Emmanuel Church Hall every Tuesday and Thursday morning for women in our local area.  The classes are friendly and tailored to help women become used to life in Britain, as well as improving their confidence and language skills in everyday conversation, and make friends.  There is childcare and the classes cost £1. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET: to save any postage stamps (UK or overseas) from Christmas cards and parcels.  They can all be used to raise funds for Baptist Home Mission and enable small churches in the continue to remain open in needy areas.  Sometimes churches are unable to afford maintenance on their buildings or to organise outreach projects in the local area to serve their local community.  Last year over £6000 was raised from stamps etc. Please put your stamps into the red box on the Mission table in the foyer or hand them directly to me.  Thank you so much.  Kay Holman.

PARABLES FOR PILGRIMS: looking at the relevance of parables today. So far we have enjoyed looking at the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan. The date of the next session is 8 March from 3-4 the Coffee Lounge and refreshments will be provided. The series is timed to suit seniors, but all are welcome and if you are not already on the list for transport but would like a lift, please call Sheila on 0208 657 9958.
