Serving the Community

Our commitment to our community is central to our mission. We are "a church at the heart of the community"

A number of our activities covered in the Reach Out zone of the website are also part of our serving of the community, such as for instance the Worldchangers holiday club, schools work and the football team. Below are some other specific things we do for the community.

Dedication of a Child

As a Baptist Church we do not baptise or christen babies or small children, as we believe baptism is a part of an individuals personal commitment to Christ.

However, we welcome any parents who want to bring their child to church to say 'thank you' to God, to pray for the child and to ask for God's blessing and help for them as parents in their task of bringing up their family. Follow the link on the left for more information about such dedications

 Funerals

At a time of loss, we want to be ready to support and help you. If you need any help at all, please get in touch with our minister, Mike Elcome. The link on the left gives more information about funerals at Selsdon Baptist Church, and has contact details for Mike.

Pre-School

Selsdon Baptist Pre-School operates under the umbrella of the church. Children can join from age two, and the sessions operate in the mornings. You can find more information on the pre-school website - clink the link on the left.
Marriage Course

Alison and David Ward run The Marriage Course from time to time - to help enrich relationships

The Lords Larder

We collect food each week for Croydon Refugee Centre, Women's Refuge and Night Watch.

T@3

T@3 is held every 4th Wednesday of the month from 2 30 pm to 4 00pm. Older folk from the church and from the wider community are invited to share a cup of tea and cake, friendly conversation and usually a quiz.  Lifts are available for the less mobile.

Holiday@Home

A week of enjoyable activities for older folk was held this year in July and included an outing and garden party in August.  The aim is to provide a week of fun and friendship while still enjoying all the comforts of home.  Another Holiday@Home week will be held in July 2007 and will include games, craft, music, hot lunches, quizzes and much more.
